Amsterdam in 24 Hours

So you’re in Amsterdam for a day, but you’re not quite sure what to do. I’ve got you covered! Below, I’ve provided a few suggestions to help you make the most of your pit stop.

WONDR Experience

If you love selfies with cute backgrounds or if you’re looking to have an interactive art experience, this is the place for you. Tickets are 24.50 euros and can be purchased in advance by going to http://www.wondrexperience.com. The ticket is valid for 2 hours once your experience starts. Because the main target group for WONDR Experience are adults, if traveling with children, be sure to pay attention to the kid friendly hours offered for this experience.

Once inside, you’re only able to bring your phone or camera. Don’t worry, lockers are available at no additional cost. At the end of the experience, you’ll get a chance to stop at the cafe, but make sure to keep money for this in your pocket as you aren’t able to retrieve your personal belongings before visiting the cafe. There’s one way in, one way out. Check out some of my photos from the experience below for examples of what you can expect while there.

Other Suggestions

Taking a stroll on the Canals of Amsterdam is also another option. The architecture is definitely a sight to see along the way. If you’re in the mood for it, I recommend taking an hour cruise on the canals. There are plenty of options available to do so and you’ll see the advertisements in passing.

If you’re looking for bars or other night activities, check out Amsterdam’s Red Light District. I’m sure you’ll find something to tickle your fancy while there. The Red Light District offers a variety of restaurants, bars, and other attractions.

Transportation

I highly recommend the use of public transportation while in Amsterdam. If you’re there for 24 hours, I’d suggest you purchase a day ticket for 8.00 euros, which allows unlimited access to the bus, metro and tram. To help plan your trip, try out the app Moovit. The app provides several options for getting to your destination, including Uber if available. The app also has a built in navigator, which provides live updates during transit.

Food

Looking to get a hair cut and grab food at the same time? If so, check out Cut Throat Amsterdam. I ordered the Classic Chicken & Waffles. If spice isn’t your thing, I’d advise against it. For those that are vegan, this dish is also on the menu along with vegan curry.

If the suggestions aren’t up to your liking, don’t worry! There’s plenty to see and do in Amsterdam. If you arrive at Amsterdam Centraal Station and simply walk outside, you’ll be able to take your own pick. Trust me, you won’t have a hard time finding something to fill your day.

Enjoy!
